Genetics: Bb/Dd/dmdm/ii/Ss/CC/ww/Aa/McMc/LL/mkmk Whoo!
Breed: Chausie-Toyger Mix

Coat color: Red and White Mackerel Tabby
Coat length: Short
Markings: Faded stripes all along his back and top of face
Distinct features: Nothing.
Personality: Adder hasn’t quite outgrown his childhood tendencies, but man does he try to cover them up. He’ll still laugh at a terrible knock knock joke. You just might get scolded by a young smart-*ss afterwards. You’d never guess by his resting face that he’s actually very social and talkative- He’ll talk your face off if you give him the chance. Personally I don’t recommend giving him a chance, ‘cause all he seems to /really/ enjoy talking about is weird conspiracy theories. Doesn’t matter if he himself takes them seriously- Cats who know him still find him odd because of that. Plus the fact that he can’t handle compliments, breaking down into either silence or tears. Even if he manages to make a friend he tends to lose them the moment they call him anything vaguely nice.
History: Adder’s earliest memories are only worry and fear. Crying out for cats he no longer remembered, hunger and fear consuming all brain space as the rain dripped down on him. Trying to crawl through the darkness in search of warmth, and finally passing out from exhaustion. He would’ve died if not for Nest.
He woke up to a motherly grey face cleaning him off, the sounds of her kits trying to call her back to where they were. Nest’s warm smile was all it took for him to be included into their family. Syke, writing bios that perfect are hard for me. While Nest loved the sh*t outta her new baby, her kids were not altogether pleased with their new counterpart. They immediately saw him as a threat to the life they’d always lived- Mom always with them, and them alone. In their defense, Nest did indeed spend much more time caring for Adder than her actual children, whether he asked for it or not. Any protest on his part was immediately put an end to by a broken look on her face. How could he tell her she was doing something wrong? She’d saved him. As the kids got older [In the month category] they began to do their worst with accusing him of ridiculous crimes, desperately trying to get their mother’s attention back. Strangely, this is what sparked his love for theorizing. He’d attempt to preserve his own name by sitting down and talking out their theory full-on, wondering whether he was truly a fox in disguise or a killer running from his crimes. Until Nest screeched at her grey kits angrily to knock it off, that is. His four siblings hounded him like vultures day and night, preventing him from having normal conversations with anyone. He grew to not know how to maintain conversations. Whispered insults at him while he tried to sleep, only loud enough so that he could hear and Nest could not. His self-image was less than questionable. Despite their antics at trying to get noticed and prove Adder to be a terrible mistake, Nest still favored her found kitten. Soon Nest was giving him training lessons that the others weren’t allowed to listen to. Calling him a genius as her other kids sneered and their attacks got worse. Between undeserved praise and undeserved hate, Adder felt sick.
When Nest decided to move home base, Adder was shaking visibly. He quietly explained that he wasn’t coming. Her face got the broken look to it again, but he knew he’d overstayed his welcome, even if she didn’t. Nest wailed miserably as the orange cat walked away to start a new chapter of his book, causing his stomach to churn again with guilt. But her four grey kits rushed to comfort her, proclaiming that he’d never been a good kid to her anyways. Cited everything he’d done wrong that kits tend to do. Re-opened old theories, about why his parents had left him for dead anyways. Adder didn’t stick around to listen- Only long enough in the shadows to see that she was nodding along sadly. Catching her breath and, he hoped, getting over her lost son. With his leave, he wished Nest would value her actual kids more than the mistake to her family she’d found. It hurt to leave the cat who had saved his life, but it hurt more to ruin her life by turning her children into monsters. They were all only about a year old… There was still time for them to change.

“So… What’s with Nest’s weird obsession with Adder instead of, y’know, the kids she gave birth to? That’s kinda weird, right?”
Adder actually looked surprisingly like Nest’s previous mate, who died of a genetic disease a short while before his kits with her were born. Nest was so worried over everything the sudden death of her mate, plus her general worry over living daily life without help foraging for food or hunting, that she wasn’t a very great mother. She tried as best she could- But they all still died, after one was a stillborn to begin with. All of her precious orangey kittens and mate were gone, and she got a lot grumpier and stopped talking to other cats. She ended up getting with a passing drifter, and having four kittens she was at least content at raising. When she found Adder crying, with no parents to care for him, she immediately saw it as a gift and sign from some higher being. She had one of her dead mate’s kits back, and no way was she going to fail this time.
Also ah jeeze I hope I did this right
