The Suncat's Scion
Attract what you expect, reflect what you desire, become what you respect, and mirror what you admire.
Land Name: The Suncat
The Legend
There are still few cats in the world who know of a sacred secret that they hold to their heart;
There was an ancient and flourishing human civilization where cats were worshiped.
Its true; there are still artifacts of the mysterious realm in the sands that live today. The few cats who have ever heard of it may not have heard the full story.
There was once a sun god named Ra who had created a city of gold and a river of silver within the endless bronze sand of a barren land. He then created a goddess to bring them prosperity. This goddess's name was Sekhmet, and she was a goddess of love, war, protection, and wealth. Of all the creatures in the desert, Sekhmet especially loved two; the wildcats and the humans. She would often come to the land in the form of a human, a wildcat, or something in between. She loved them equally, but as humans continued to worship her, the wildcats began to feel privileged. They saw themselves stronger, better, and especially in favor of the goddess to the point where they lorded over other animals, and eventually turned against humans and waged a war against them.
Sekhmet was torn. She hated the narcissism the wildcats had, but still loved some parts of them. She knew she would have to set them in place, but at the cost of losing their respect and worship. She went to Ra for the answers, and he came up with the perfect solution. Ra drew the blood from the battlefield; the blood of both humans and wildcats into him. He also added a touch of Sekhmet's blood. From this, cats were born. They had all the best features from humans and wildcats and Sekhmet's spirit in a small package. Sekhmet was overjoyed by the results, so much that she sacrificed herself to end the war and was reborn as Bastet; the Cat Goddess of love, war, protection, and wealth. Under this new name, wildcats no longer had her blessings, and were forced to return back to the wild in defeat. Humans saw her obvious favoritism for cats, but instead of being envious of them, they worshiped the cats to appease her.
To keep the cats from becoming like wildcats, Ra had made them incredibly small; although they are almost perfect figures of the wildcat, they struggle against even the simplest competition like foxes, dogs, and even raccoons just because of their size. From this, Ra and Bastet both want cats to understand the importance of honing their skills as one and the power of many. Those who hold firm beliefs in this history are passionate about building strong wealthy communities, protecting fellow cats from the threats of other animals and teaching them how to protect themselves, loving their goddess and the cats who worship her, and tuning all cats to be warriors in case a time ever comes that they need to be. Such was the beliefs of Bruce, the father of Calypso, who had planned to have his own clan under these ideals until he was distracted by the love of his life.
Needless to say, Calypso didn't have this distraction.
Bastet's Renaissance
Calypso is was born into the chaos and heat of that terrible summer everything was taken away from the cats of the village. There was so much carnage, pain, and weakness; mostly against cats who were injured by its affects or simply not ready for the real wild world. They quickly dwindled in numbers as competition became fierce and they had no where to go, but no longer will that be a problem.
With her powers and beliefs, Calypso wants to take back the village and build a cat civilization on top of its ruins. It will be a place where cats can be empowered; they will thrive and grow, learn to fight back against the obstacles in their paths, and learn the history that will give them the spiritual strength to be courageous and passionate about life. With this ambitious goal in mind, its easy to see how this clan will need to be a bit more complex than the other ones and thus not fit for every cat, but hopefully most cats can understand it.
The concepts to understand are:The Seasons, The Pharaoh, Bastet's Chosen, and Bastet's Children
Along with the seasons of the year, there are four seasons the colony can be in depending on what the Pharaoh declares; Season of Love, Season of Wealth, Season of Protection, and Season of War. The Season of Love is the most passive season for newcomers and guests; the borders are open to outside cats and cats of The Suncat can invite other cats they know. New cats and guest cats are to be treated with hospitality like they are brothers and sisters and are quickly introduced to the culture, and purpose of the clan. The Season of Wealth is about the personal growth of the clan. This season is less about outsiders and more about insiders, but the borders are still open and they can be invited. This is a time where culture is heavily emphasized and there are often giant celebrations to bring all the cats together. The Season of Protection is when the borders are being heavily monitored, so in and out of The Suncat isn't as free as the other two seasons. This season is not a good time for newcomers or guests and is more about the growth of the colony; cats are being ranked up in ranking ceremonies and gaining more privileges, there is an emphasis on teaching them skills on how to be the best warriors they can be and how to serve the colony's need. The final season is The Season of War, and it is just as it sounds. Whether it be war against another colony, a spotted migration of competing animals, a widespread famine, or whatever is going on, The Suncat is going into wartime mode. The borders are shut; cats cannot get in and out without special permission or special rank. Those who go near the colony are treated with hostility. Those with rank are probably the only cats of Bastet who are out in the world, and that is to fight or provide for the colony in any way possible.
The Pharaoh is the leader of the clan and their family. They are in charge of determining the season they are in, maintaining growth and prosperity for The Suncat, declare war and alliances, and spreading the faith in Bastet, but what they do on a day-to-day basis really depends on the season. During Love Season, they are usually personally greeting newcomers, making sure that guests are comfortable, walking among their citizens to get to know them better, and holding public hearings on how the cats think the colony can be improved. Love Season is also the time to review colony relationships and give rival clans the opportunity to peacefully resolve issues. During Wealth Season, they are usually planning celebrations for births and deaths, coming of age celebrations, Bastet worship celebrations, and working on the input from public hearings. During Protection season, they are making sure that the education on how to protect oneself and their loved ones are being spread, honing their own skills, and even offering to teach some lucky clan members. During War Season, the Pharaoh and all the adult members of their family are fighting in whatever war is going on or alongside the colony relief system in laborious work.
There are two kinds of cats within The Suncat; Bastet's Chosen and Bastet's Children. Bastet's Chosen are the recognized citizens of The Suncat. These cats, whether it be upon their admission into the clan by the Pharaoh, or during a held day during Protection Season, have sworn an oath of loyalty to the colony and are proud worshippers of Bastet. With it, they get clan hearing rights during the Love Season public hearings and can enjoy having a rank that is set in stone. However, once they swear an oath, they are an official member of the colony. To betray the colony is to declare yourself the highest enemy of Suncat's Scion; even higher than rival colonies. Those who break the rules even lose their rights as Chosen. Once done, it is very hard to get them back. Bastet's Children are the casual members and guests of the colony. They are treated with all the respect of the Chosen and have to follow the rules of the colonies. Members who have not pledged loyalty to the colonies or lack the requirement to be The Chosen (ex:kittens) are in this category. Socially, there is a distinction between those who have just not been sorted into Chosen and those who are just guests of The Suncat, but politically there isn't. They aren't considered citizens, so they can come and go in The Suncat while still receiving benefits from it. However, because they aren't citizens, they do not have a voice during public hearings. They also do not have territories of their own within the colony territory; they are expected to live together like one big family.

The rules and customs of the clan
Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Unless explicitly stated otherwise (ex; enemy of SS) we help all cats in need.
Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ If you plan on stealing, be sure you are ready to face the consequences of getting caught.
Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Fighting within The Suncat is allowed, however you are restricted to body blows. Any attacks to neck or face, attacks from companions, or any done with excessively malicious intent will not be allowed. Clerics will step in and more than happily return the favor.
Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ With the exception of High Priestesses, You are free to love whoever you wish; love between The Chosen and Children and even different (non-enemy) colonies or rogues are allowed.
Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ All of Bastet's Chosen and Bastet's Children who wish to raise kittens within The Suncat must first pass a fitness test to prove that they can care and protect them. Those who fail will get extensive training until they succeed.
Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ The Chosen have a reputation to uphold, and can be punished for things done outside of the colonies if the Pharaoh feels it reflects badly on them.
Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Companions are allowed, but they are to follow the laws and respect every cat within Suncat's Scion. The punishment for those who fail to will be directed towards the cat responsible for the companion.
Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Murderng fellow colony members, force breeding any cat, and abuse towards any kitten are the crimes that imediately are met with death.
Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ It is strictly forbidden to ever attack the High Priestesses.
Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Only Chosen cats are allowed to make territorial claimss from within The Suncat; they are allowed to claim a ferris cart or coaster seat as their home. Cats venturing around them without permission are considered trespassing.
Bastet's Chosen
High Priestess
The High Priestesses are the wisest members of the colony who are arguably as powerful as the Pharaoh. During times of war, they are the strategists of colony from within The Suncat. They care for the Pharaoh's young that can't join them while they are away or recovering. During peacetime, they record the history of the colony, The Pharaoh's progression, and the status of the colony. When the Pharaoh is under the age of 3 years old, all major changes to the culture and rules must first go through the High Priestesses. In the situation where the colony is left without a viable Pharaoh, the High Priestesses decide on a new one.
However, this role does not come without sacrifice. Their are typically 6 High Priestesses; three elder and three younger. One of the elders are called the Moirai, and they hold The Heart of the Sky amulet so that they can easily converse with the High Priestesses before them. To keep the amulet from being muddled with too many potential loves, High Priestesses are not allowed to have mates. When they reach the age of 3 years, they choose one of the Chosen males to mate with and produce kittens that they will raise until adulthood. 3 of the female cats (or in rare occasions where there are less than three females, male cats) are chosen to be the younger generation while the rest live among the Chosen. When the Moirai dies, she selects one of the three youngers to hold the amulet.

The Golden
The Golden are the cream of the crop; they are the Clerics who have risen beyond the skills of the their brothers and sisters and have been recognized by the Pharaoh for their skill. During the Season of War, they are alongside the Pharaoh in a special clouder in whatever they are doing. During peacetime, they are training special case cats on how to fight; cats that are declawed, blind, or missing a limb for example. They lead the Clerics who have been sorted into the same typing as them, and are usually on call for special missions from the Pharaoh. In the case that the Pharaoh becomes overthrown, it is seen as The Golden's duty to drive out or kill the cat responsible and claim the position for themselves until the High Priestesses decide on a new Pharaoh.
There are three Golden Healers, Golden Hunters, and Golden Brawlers at a time. In order to be recognized as one, the cat must have been through at least one fight before and make a sacrifice to Bastet that is their size or bigger. A cat cannot join Suncat's Scion as a Golden and must earn the position from within the colony.

Clerics
Clerics are the pledged Suncats of the land. They provide a wide variety of services; such as teaching, policing Bastet's Children, and patrolling the boarders. They are hard workers and well respected.
There are three types of Clerics; Healers, Hunters, and Brawlers. Healers have knowledge about potential medical remedies for certain situations. They assist the injured or sick and are usually alongside a Brawler. Their combat type is a more guardian type which is heavily defensive. These cats are usually rather large. Hunters are stealthy cats who practice cunning, speed, and precision rather than strength. As their name would suggest, these cats usually also help out those who aren't so good at hunting. Their combat type is an assassin type, which seems to advantage the smaller cats. Brawlers are generally more skilled fighters who are capable of switching things up or fight in a more traditional, non-specialized cat fighting way. They typically train cats who do not know how to fight at all or do not know how to fight well among Bastet's Children. There is an infinite number of these members and one can join as one. However, remember these cats are pledged, so there are heavy penalties to those who might want to change clans later.

The Pyramid
While there aren't specific duties for those in the Pyramid, they have chosen to organize themselves based on their roles. This organization is typically recognized by Pharaohs, but Pharaohs legally hold the right to ignore it and treat them all the same. There are the cats that are the "silver tip" of the pyramid; cats who have yet to get their chance to be ranked or cats with strong devotion but weak fighting skills. Then there are cats who are known as the "bronze base". These cats are those who may be very skilled and stay within Suncat, but have no devotion to Bastet and thus will never be among the Chosen. They are also cats who do not live within The Suncat, but have strong devotion, and would be ranked here when visiting. Finally, there are the "sandy surrounders"; cats with no ties to the colony who are just visiting or resting within the The Suncat for one reason or another and once that reason is over, they plan to leave.
The Current Pharaoh has recognized the "sands" as their own category and has limited their entry relative to how many Clerics there are to watch over Bastet's Children.

The Repenters
The Repenters are cats who got into trouble one way or another. These cats require a punishment more severe than a nip on the butt, but not severe enough to be exiled and declared enemies of the clan. This usually happens to those who are Chosen and power-abusers, but cats who have a record of being malicious or enemy colony cats wanting in on the colony during peacetimes will start here too.
Repenters are cats who must humble themselves. They are cats who have to do any of the tasks they are asked to do so long as it doesn't break the rules without complaining, and will have to take a request at all times. They are not allowed to fight, and must ask permission from the Pharaoh if they want to participate in celebrations. They can ask for permission to be ranked up to a normal position in society during the ranking ceremonies, but they must have at least 3 cats vouch for their good behavior.
