ooc: i'm practicing with arya and i'm going to write how she loses her left hind leg. i can change this if it isn't believable. Echo-Doodle
ic: Things were quieting down. The leaves were falling from the trees, meaning that leaf bare was right around the corner and prey would be scarce. Cats would fight to the death for whatever they could find. Their homes wouldn't be enough if they didn't have the shelter necessary. Soon, the felidae would be in turmoil. Arya, being a small for her age, knew that she wouldn't stand a chance unless she found a home and fast.
The chocolate colored fluffball was trotting along an abandoned road. It had been 8 years since a human had inhabited this road. Part of her believed that they were just fables told to kits that needed to behave. Her mother had often told her littermates the stories while she was kept off to the side. It didn't matter now as the humans were gone. Homes were abandoned with plenty of prey inside, but there were also dangers. Where the prey lay the predators wait.
Despite her overcautious thoughts, the small Oriental Longhaired feline went inside the first house that she had found. The lithe, lanky she-kit trotted inside. She wasn't very good at hunting, but she was learning. Her mother had taught her family how to hunt, but only let her watch. She knew the basics of fighting and hunting. The Chocolate she-kit stopped trotting once she passed the threshold and looked around, forgetting to scent the air around her.
Arya stalked forward and the floorboard creaked under pressure, even for something so small. She looked down at the floorboard as she stopped in her tracks. Looking around, she didn't see or hear anything. Thinking that it was clear, the tiny kit continued forward and finally found a rather plump mouse running through the hallway. The chocolate she-kit ran forward and tried to catch the mouse, but failed as it disappeared in a small hole that was in the wall.
"Shoot," she breathed. "I needed that. I need to find something to eat before Winter. I'm gonna be screwed if I don't."
The Chocolate and white kit scented the air and stalked towards a scent that smelled odd. Little did she know that it was going to change her life forever. As she willed her body towards the scent, her ears perked forward as she heard a sound that she was unfamiliar with. The dwarfish cat saw bright eyes glowing at her and watched as a rather large badger stalked towards her. Gulping, the feline panicked and froze. Her mind was racing as she stood there, but she knew she had to do something. Knowing that this was not good, the kit finally turned to run away. However, she felt a tug on her back leg.
"No," Arya hissed, praying to the Heavens to save her.
The badger had a firm grip on her leg from the bottom of her thigh all the way down. She begged through the multiple yowls of pain for it to let go, but it didn't understand her. She hissed and bared her fangs at the black and white monster. No matter how menacing she tried to be, it was three, if not more, times her size.
"I'm not going to survive this," the Chocolate cat cried out as the badger secured its hold on her leg, tearing into the tendons and bones.
A snap and a bunch of tugging and tearing, the feline yowled in pain as she felt her leg being ripped from her body. She knew that if she passed out, she would not survive this. Bearing the terrible feeling, Arya scratched at the badger and caught it in the eyes. It let her go and she escaped. The pain she was feeling was overpowering, yet she knew she had to run. With a new limp in her run, the Chocolate colored she-kit ran out of the house and towards the road. She had to find cobwebs to stop the bleeding. At least, that's what her mother had used when her brother had been hurt by a thorn, cutting the skin.
"Cobwebs," the kit blurted deliriously, feeling herself becoming dizzy from the blood loss. "I-I've g-got to f-find cobwebs."
Arya, barely functioning, looked around and finally found some cobwebs. Gathering them, she covered her open wound. Hissing as she did so, the little she-kit finally let herself pass out. She let the darkness overtake her body. Her mind was active and she felt the pain as she woke up. There was no way that surviving something like this would be easy. At least, she had watched her mom heal wounds before.
"As long as the cobwebs help clot the blood," Arya whispered to herself, "I should be fine. Poppy for pain, but I don't remember what it looks like. I'll just grin and bare it. There's no way I'm going to poison myself. Now, I need to get some water."
The Chocolate and white cat opened her bright green eyes and shakily got to her paws, only to collapse again. Arya tried once again and accomplished her goal of standing. Limping slowly, the she-kit knew she needed to find some water and it was a necessity. Finding her way foward, the young feline found a puddle with semi-decent drinking water. She started to take drinks of water, hoping to replenish the blood she had lost. Drinking a lot, she felt herself gaining a bit of strength back in her body.
Deciding that staying near the puddle was her best choice at the moment, Arya lay down and felt the pain coursing through her body. Hissing, she wished that she hadn't have been such an idiot. The now handicapped she-cat placed her head in her paws and knew she was going to need to find someone to help her. There was no way that she could survive on her own.
